We are thrilled to announce our 2nd Annual Autism Research and Treatment Symposium (ARTS) in Hollywood, Florida!

Our diverse lineup of presenters includes professionals from academia, practitioners, parents, and vocational organizations, all aimed at enriching your experience.

Our Mission

The mission of The Science Alliance, in collaboration with ISA, is to help disseminate information to individuals, families, and clinicians regarding the latest information on the research and treatment of ASD.

Who Should Attend?

Those interested in research and development in treating Autism Spectrum Disorders, showcasing multidisciplinary approaches such as pharmacology, TMS, biofeedback, and neurofeedback. This symposium aims to provide up-to-date information for caregivers, parents, and individuals serving the autism population.

Day One

Optional Pre-Symposium Workshop with Dr. Chasson or a New Directions Open House Tour along with an evening of social gathering.

Day Two

Presenters will be providing approximately one-hour sessions. Sessions and information will be in a general conference style format.

Day Three

We will have a panel discussion designed to help provide an opportunity for questions and answers, and also facilitate general discussion.

Optional Open House Tour at New Directions for Young Adults from 4 PM to 6 PM on February 21, 2025

What to Expect?

We will take you on a journey from early infant mental health to adulthood, as we examine new innovative modalities of research and treatment to help address a myriad of comorbidities that affect those with autism.

Waiting for 'Just Right': Treatment Techniques for Level 1 Autism and Perfectionism

Half-Day Workshop with Dr. Greg Chasson

Learn evidence-based techniques to help individuals with Level 1 autism manage as Not Just Right Feelings (NJRFs) and perfectionism. Led by autism and perfectionism expert Dr. Greg Chasson from the University of Chicago. Earn 4 CE credits.

Perfectionism and autism expert, Dr. Greg Chasson, is facilitating a half-day (4-hr) workshop that targets a critical feature of distress and impairment for individuals with Level 1 autism who exhibit perfectionism: Not Just Right Feelings (NJRFs), sometimes also referred to Not Just Right Experiences or Incompleteness. This refers to getting stuck compulsively doing an activity until one feels a sense that it’s complete or “just right.”

After this workshop, participants will be able to Identify NJRFs on the autism spectrum:

Case conceptualize NJRFs in the context of Level 1 autism.
Communicate effectively about NJRFs to individuals with Level 1 autism in a way that promotes behavior change.
Develop and carry out exposure and response prevention plans for NJRFs tailored to individuals with Level 1 autism.
Complement exposure and response prevention plans for NJRFs with cognitive flexibility and distress tolerance techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behavior therapy.

About Dr. Chasson

Dr. Chasson is a speaker, award-winning author of Flawed: Why Perfectionism is a Challenge for Management, and Associate Professor and Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Chicago. He has conducted empirical research and provided clinical service to individuals with autism across the lifespan for nearly 25 years.
